Fall News Roundup - 2011

Friday, Sept. 23

Here’s how Ball State's 16th annual Fall News Roundup can benefit you.

The conference is focused on TV news, but many of the tips – and career opportunities – span multiple areas of study within journalism and telecommunications. For instance, one of the speakers is Seth Keever, a 2006 TCOM production graduate, now manager of digital media at WRTV 6 in Indianapolis. He'll be talking about his intense activity on an array of websites and social media the night the grandstand stage superstructure collapsed at the Indiana State Fair. He was both pushing out and hauling in information and visual content during the early hours of the disaster.

This professionals-in-residence event – two events, actually – is also an opportunity for you to network with news professionals from throughout Indiana. You may soon be applying to these same people for an internship or a job. In addition, you'll hear first-hand what to do – and what not to do – in class, outside class and particularly when you're sending out resumes and reels.

The schedule for this year’s Fall News Roundup – Friday, Sept. 23:
