Position: Digital Storytelling Intern
Description: Upward Bound at Ivy Tech Community College seeks an intern with experience in digital storytelling, videography, and editing. Intern will be responsible for creating promotional video content for the Upward Bound program, assisting high school students in creating their own personal narrative videos, and organizing a footage library for video content shot during the Summer Academy.
Responsibilities: • Shoot video during Upward Bound summer activities. • Create two short promotional videos that capture the essence of the Upward Bound program and its benefits. • Create occasional simple video content for Upward Bound social media. • Organize footage shot during the summer academy both by footage type and by student/staff member. • Assist Upward Bound students with their final summer project: creating a personal video narrative.
Qualifications: • Working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., Telecommunications, Digital Storytelling, Communications, Public Relations, etc.). • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of Adobe Premiere required). • An effective communicator. • Good interpersonal skills. • Ability to work respectfully with marginalized, low-income high school students. • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
Hours: 20 hours/week. Internship is 7 weeks and runs from June 4-July 20.
Most time will be spent at the Patterson Building (108 S Walnut St) in downtown Muncie. May occasionally travel with Upward Bound students on field trips. Daytime hours primarily (9am-4pm) with the possibility of occasional evenings for special events.
